It would be great to link part of instance of one type of object with an instance of other type of object. This could look like following. Imagine that Michael created a document (thread), added some description text and several Chapters inside. Tony read this document, selects 1st chapter (block of text inside of the object instance) and press button\menu "Create and link the selected text with new object, selects Task from the list (Task, Calendar event, discussion etc).

System opens a new object, inserts selected part of text from parent object and a link to it. Tony adds some text where he explains what he wants and Peter as participant. In the Peter's "Personal space" or in his Tasks folder new object instance appears. Peters does something with the child object instance and he is able to follow the link to the parent object in order to get the "whole picture". Of cause you can tell me that I have an opportunity to do the described operations manually. But this requires much more time, switching between windows, several copy\paste operations and manual "rights to read" assignment to Peter for the text block of the parent object.
